Buying and Delivery
A printable file, or a set of them. You buy once, download the files, and print any page as many times as you like, forever. Nothing is posted to you, and there is no subscription, no app and no account to maintain.
They arrive immediately after payment. Etsy shows a download link on the confirmation screen and sends the same link by email, so you can come back for the files later from your Etsy account under Purchases and reviews. If the email has not appeared within a few minutes, check the spam folder first, then contact us and we will send it directly.
Because these are digital files that download instantly, they cannot be returned in the ordinary sense, and Etsy treats digital downloads that way as standard. That said, if a file is faulty, incomplete or genuinely not what the listing described, contact us. We would much rather fix it or make it right than have you stuck with something that does not work.
Printing
Every Rootlyn product comes in two sizes, US Letter and A4. Choose the one your printer uses and ignore the other. If you are unsure, A4 is standard in the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia and most of Asia, and US Letter is standard in the United States and Canada.
Print at actual size, sometimes called 100 percent, rather than fit to page, so the margins stay as designed. Plain paper is fine. Most people print single sided because they write on both pages side by side, but double sided works well if you want a slimmer stack. If you only print occasionally, a print shop will do a whole journal cheaply.
Not at all, and most people do not. Print the pages you are actually going to use this week, then print more when you need them. That is the advantage of owning the file rather than a bound book. Nothing runs out.
Using the Files
No. Every file works on a tablet too. Open the PDF in an app that lets you write on it, such as GoodNotes, Notability or Noteshelf, and use a stylus exactly as you would a pen. The pages were designed with enough space for handwriting, so they suit both.
The files are designed for handwriting rather than typing, because writing by hand is part of how these tools work. You can type into them using a PDF editor if you prefer, but the layouts assume a pen.
Almost every device opens PDFs already. If yours does not, install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and try again. If the file still refuses, contact us with the name of the product and we will sort it out.
Licensing, Limits and the Studio
Print them as often as you like, for yourself and for the people in your household. What you may not do is share, resell, distribute or upload the files, or use them commercially, for example printing copies for clients, students, patients or workshop attendees.
Not under the standard licence, but ask. If you are a therapist, coach, teacher or facilitator who wants to use a Rootlyn tool in your work, contact us and we will talk about it properly rather than leaving you guessing.
No, and we are careful about that. Rootlyn products are self care tools for ordinary hard days. They are not therapy, treatment, diagnosis or financial advice, and they do not replace professional help. If something you are carrying is bigger than a journal, please talk to a doctor or a qualified professional. That is not a failure of the journal or of you.
They are written by hand, by a small studio, then tested and rewritten until the language sounds like something a person would actually say. No page is published because it fills a gap in a table of contents.
